Vila with jelly
and peanutbutter off the top shelf
Goes down smooth
like healthy skin
that spreads across a familiar frame
One that reminds me of family
and looks like a freckle
in close proximity to a point of origin
outside of the golden ratio

Habitating an area,
less often traveled
existing in a place
hardly explored
Standing
two-thirds of the way near
an ordered pair
that rushes by in mathematical certainty
Yet never looks outside of the lines,
or questions one's own self
Forgetting the validity
of a misplaced birthmark
and unlikely color
bathed in chalky innocence

It was my first visit
to a place I'd grown up
A rendezvous with an alto
Breath that hardly escaped
without a mumble
Sounding out a question's mark
that tickles the underside
of a youthful heart
