One of my favorite songs at the moment is one from the wonderful dubby, older school drum and bass acts, Smith & Mighty, called Rescue Me Pt.II (listen). Everytime I listen I can't help but think of the words in a religious context, and in the same way my heart is constantly drawn out to the Lord. I think the words are very relevant for a fossil, an artifact, of a believer, and the great desire and passion that is this life, that is this struggle, and that is this faith in greater things than our weak hands can clench sometimes, and somewhere I find myself very often, asking please.
"Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Much to learn, now I've lost my love
Teach me how to forgive
When all seems lost for us
Patience means nothing
I've lost that virtue now
I've no reasons left in this world
To haste for now
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Develop me, from this waste that I am
Only flesh with no meaning, each breath without feeling
Each heartbeat a lie
Draw from me, what little goodness is left
And mould it to a form, that fits your purpose best
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Much to learn, now I've lost my love
Teach me how to forgive
When all has been lost for us
Surely you know and you only may care
That a love that is lost, has made me its heir
In limbo waltz I, in sorrow I lie
Only flesh with no meaning, each breath without feeling
Each heartbeat a lie
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Rescue me, help me
Wont you reach for me, hold me
Lead the way for me, show me
How to love
Lead the way, help me, hold me, show me
How to love, take me, teach me
I've so much to learn, how to love"
