If I had a cause to initiate, or a movement to inspire, like civil rights movements of the past, or maybe freedom alliances of old, my doctrine would be: "Be Non-Reactionary". Be non-reactive.
I feel that as these times that we live in continue to escalate it will be increasingly easier to be on one extreme or another; fully subdued and enthralled by certain causes or lifestyles. "Continue to escalate"--meaning the availabilty of technology and resources abounding, and falling into the hands of more and more people each day. The possibilities of seeing and doing whatever your heart may desire, even on the slightest whim, is readily available to you and is a reality. Escalation--meaning that if more and more powerful weapons become available to the lesser and lesser wealthy/privileged, thru the availability of expanding and growing technology and declining prices along the way, "simple" men will be able to excercise their free agencies as they please in ways which would have been protected against in the past, not because the good of the world prevented it alone per se, but because in the past only the powerful had the resources to make such decisions, who in turn hopefully felt that whatever was best for the good of the people was best for them.
Well, besides weapons (because thas not what this is about--I only use it to make a point) I believe that many many hurdles are being removed by way of technology, and the overall significance is a growing ability to excercise your free will. At the click of a button, or a call on your cell phone, you can have what you want, you can get what you want, you can be the person you wish to be--and right now. In the past perhaps, the discomfort may have discouraged many from acting on unwelcomed desires. Too much of a bother. Well not anymore.
I don't intend to limit this to any single act related to what's going on right now, because I believe that it is quite widespread, or encompassing. In truth, I believe that it is more of a lifestyle thing--a way that you want to fasten your life. I believe that people are being able to choose for themselves more and more, with fewer obstacles. Greater free agency.
Be non-reactive. Thas the message that I would spread. Don't be swayed by the extremes on either side, pushing stimuli into your face, begging your reaction. It is the fulness of times, meaning that pretty much everything is gonna be realized here and now, both sides of every issue. It is all going to be put on the table, and anything is up for grabs. If you want it, look at it--it's right there, you can have it--jus grab it. But wait. Be non-reactive.
Time for digression..........
The most ironic part about my policy of being non-reactive is that it is a reaction to the tick tock inside--anxiety, phobias, disorders. Under the spell of anxiety, I am subject to considering virtually every aspect of anything that my mind can invent, but I must not indulge--I must be rational. (Does this remind you of something?--non-reactionary). I balance anxiety with patience, gentleness. Regardless, I have traced almost all of the definitive characteristics of who I am, to reactions to some root problem or stimulus within. Other people are no different from me, as I have noted by recognizing the catalysts in their lives. You prolly aren't choosing to be who you are for the reasons that you thought you were. Even still, being non-reactionary opens you up to your potential. Now, you can choose to be you for the reasons you think you ought. Finally, it's time to marinate.
